outside the box

three cereal boxes, each to a particular tone. one poetic, one informative, one persuasive, all including analogue alternative text making techniques.

this is my poetic box. I created a physical version to take my own documentation images with. I wanted to make a box that was antithetical to any box you may see in stores. The corporate style off on-brand cereals make me feel like I am being subconsciously compelled to buy something that is likely not very good for me to eat. As a reaction to this, I wanted to make something that feels unappetizing and possibly dark in intention, to describe the unappetizing and maliciously marketed nature of cereal corporations.
this is my informative box. I burnt every piece of text to convey the crispiness of the cereal inside. I wanted this box to have a very striking appearance to catch the eye, which I conveyed with the high contrasts in color and form (burnt v. clean). I also wanted to emphasize the important information using contrast in color as well as placement.
this is my persuasive box. I wanted to make this box compel the viewer into making rice crispy treats, so I printed all of the text and laid it onto Saran Wrap with marshmallow fluff and rice crispy cereal. I wanted the texture to really pop, so it would look like it should be saran wrapped.
